Who are we

Winter 2024 to spring 2025

So – what are we up to these days?

At Mumm, we are historically known for serving meat and fish. And for our good starters and desserts. We will also be known for this in the future. This year – 2024 - the restaurant is up for sale. But to cast in iron – we are not slowing down or changing our ambitions. We are both motivated and ready for next year, if a sale does not happen. It’s a privilege to run Mumm, and the goal is to take care of everything and preserve the traditions associated with the place for - now - 50 years (2024). We wish to preserve and develop at the same time, and always have some plans. We will see for 2025. 😊

Menues

We continuously seek to optimize and vary the range of dishes and compositions, and always stand for sustainable ingredients and the good taste. For the winter 24-25, the number of menus is slightly reduced, and will appear elsewhere on the website. For special arrangements or events, call us or send an e-mail.

Staff

In the summer of 2024, we said goodbye to some good employees, and welcomed new good people. In the winter of 24-25, we will be a little fewer, but are hiring or re-hiring in the spring. With the reduced opening hours until April 2025, we will be 6-8 employees who will serve you as always.

Opening hours for the rest of 2024

From October 24 to December 21: Wednesday to Saturday from 6 pm.

Additionally: ‘Mortens’ evening – Sunday 10 November from 6 pm (Serving roasted duck only – Danish tradition)

Christmas-buffet: Saturdays 23. and 30. November and 7. December from 11.30-3 pm.

Closed for the winther from December 22 until February 5.

Opening hours 2025

February 6 to April 26: Wednesday to Saturday and Easter Sunday from 6 pm.

Special events and parties

For larger events and groups, we are happy to receive an e-mail with the date, time and number of guests. We will get back to you as soon as possible with offers and further organization. Please note our special offer for a la carte serving: From 15-25 people, it is possible to order individually from the current menu, as long as we know the orders in advance. Special menus can be settled further.

Booking

You can always book online from the website. When you make a reservation, you will receive a confirmation by email. If not – call, write or leave a message on the answering machine. (Check spam filter if the confirmation does not appear). Opening hours can always be checked in the booking system. If we are not on the phone, it is (still) possible to book online.

Otherwise, send us an email at info@mummaeroe.dk. If you leave a booking on the answering machine, we will call you or text a confirmation.

Honesty and solutions

The all-year team is head chef Kim Jensen, caterer Anne Nordberg, restaurant manager Polly Martin and owner Pia Fuglsang.

In the high season from May to October, the team is enriched with 12-15 extra employees. Every year we look forward to 'gathering the family', when local young people return for the summer, to help us when things get very busy.

It is of utmost importance to maintain a good worklife, and happy employees. We serve not only our guests, but equally each other.

The motto at all times is: Honesty and solutions!

The courtyard

The garden is an admired and cosy spot at Mumm. Surrounded by green plants, hedges and bushes a lunch or an evening-meal is priceless. However the garden is not sheltered or heated. The gods of the wheather decide the outdoor serving.

If they are with us - the gods - and if you have booked a table in due time, you can be almost certain of a place. First come first served!

The entrance to the garden is a must see. Don't miss the large mural in the gate, made by artist Trine Sørensen, who grew up in Ærøskøbing. With a great sense of humour, Trine tells a lot of hilarious stories from our charming village.

We are very proud of this fantastic and colorful painting, creating a speciel southern atmosphere.
